Briefly:
Brandon Walker joins the Lions for his first season of collegiate basketball as a true freshman. Brandon is a very skilled defender who also brings athleticism to the Lions motion offense. He has also shown the ability to lead on the floor.
High School:
Walker graduated Bishop O'Dowd High School in 2007. A native of Hayward, Calif., he helped Bishop O'Dowd reach the Division-III playoffs at 19-9 overall and 11-5 in league play as a junior, scoring 25 points in the quarterfinal win over Miramonte. He went on to earn all-conference and All-CIF honors while averaging 19 points and eight rebounds per game. As a senior, Walker led O'Dowd to the Division III Championship game against Artesia, the 10th-ranked team in the nation by the USA Today. He scored a game-high 24 points despite an allergy infection that had his eyes swollen shut. O'Dowd finished the season 26-7 overall and Walker was named Bay Area Co-Player of the Year and First-Team All-Bay Area. He was also named San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro third-team while averaging better than 14 points per contest. He finished his career with four varsity letters while averaging 16 points and seven rebonds. He also earned Dean's List honors.
Personal:
Brandon Jamal Walker was born on April 25, 1989 and is the son of Beverly and Randy Walker. He has a sister, Maya. During high school he volunteered at Tri-Cities Homeless Shelter (served meals), St. Lawrence O'Toole School (helped with construction), St. Bernard's School (basketball clinic) and the Hook Mitchell and Oakland Police Athletic League basketball camp. He is a Liberal Arts major with a minor in Business Management.
