Team Effort Earns Big Opening Win
LMU men's basketball finished with six players in double figures as they coast to 108-49 win.

LOS ANGELES -- Using their entire roster, the 2012-13 college basketball season got off to a fast start for LMU men's basketball as they went on to an easy 108-49 win over Pacifica University in the season opener for both teams at Gersten Pavilion on Friday night. Six players scored in double figures as every healthy body earned at least 10 minutes in a complete team win.
"This was just the first game and we get on a plane tomorrow early to head to a whole different ball game on Sunday against SMU," said Head Coach Max Good. "With that said, we played very well as a team and I was very happy with how hard they played until the end. We will see where we are in a hurry on Sunday."
Junior Ayodeji Egbeyemi led the Lions with a career-best 20 points and eight rebounds. Anthony Ireland added 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting adding seven assists, two steals and four rebounds. Senior Ashley Hamilton had 11 points and nine rebounds in just 13 minutes.
A trio of newcomers also got into double digits, including freshman Marin Mornar with a double-double, scoring 13 points with 11 rebounds. His 11 boards was the most by a freshman in his first game in LMU history. Breaking the record of nine held by Wyking Jones on Nov. 22, 1991 against Morgan State. Nick Stover added 12 points while sophomore transfer Chase Flint had 14 points, eight assists, three steals and six rebounds.
The Lions finished the game with 31 assists, 13 steals and eight blocks, three by Godwin Okonji. The Lions finished shooting 57.7 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from three. They held Pacifica to 23.1 percent from the field and out rebounded them 61-37.
