LOS ANGELES -- LMU men's basketball finished non-conference play with a 100-83 win over La Sierra on Saturday night in the third annual LMU Holiday Classic at Gersten Pavilion. The Lions wrap-up non-conference 8-4, its best mark entering West Coast Conference play since 2004-05.

For the second time on the season the Lions had three players score 20 points, including a career night by senior Alex Osborne with 20 points and 17 rebounds, both career-highs. The Lions were led by freshman Evan Payne with 24 points and senior Anthony Ireland had his 37th career 20-point game with 21.

"We were aggressive and what I was happiest about was the 30 assists on 39 field goals," said Head Coach Max Good. "We are pretty good when we work as a team. We did well with that tonight."

Osborne's performance makes him the first Lion to have more than 15 points and 15 rebounds since Kevin Young did it on Dec. 28, 2009. As for Payne, his 24 points is tied with seven others for 11th all-time by a freshman.

The Lions finished hitting 39-for-75 from the field (52.0 percent) and out rebounded the Golden Eagles 51-25. The 51 rebounds and 30 assists were all season highs, as well as the 100 points. Junior Chase Flint equalled a career-best with eight assist.

LMU will open conference play on Saturday, Dec. 28 with BYU in the WCC Game of the Week at 1 pm.
