The homestand opens with Santa Clara coming to Gersten Pavilion as the home-opener for the 2017-18 WCC season. The Broncos split their opening weekend conference games, beating Pepperdine at home and falling to a ranked Gonzaga team in Spokane.

The matchup will feature one of the nation’s best team and keeping the ball and the conference’s top team at taking it away. Santa Clara ranks 37th in the country and third in the WCC with 11.6 turnovers per game, and has the conference’s best turnover margin at 2.5. LMU, conversely, sits atop the WCC with 14.85 turnovers forced per game.

The Lions continue to grab offensive rebounds, coralling 16 more in Saturday’s game at Pacific. LMU rank sixth nationally, averaging 14.62 offensive boards per game.

Four Lions hit the double-figure points mark in Saturday’s loss. Steven Haney, Jr. had his best scoring output of the season, finishing with 17 points on four made threes. He currently ranks 86th among active Division I players with 166 made triples in his career.

James Batemon finished with a team-high 22 points in that game, crossing the 20-point plateau for the seventh time this season.

The Lions will host No. 19 Gonzaga on Saturday in an ESPNU nationally-televised broadcast from Gersten Pavilion. The homestand will conclude with San Francisco coming to the Bluff on Jan. 11.
