LMU (6-14, 1-8 WCC) gets a shot at revenge against San Diego (14-7, 5-4 WCC), a team that went up 17 points early against the Lions in their first meeting before an LMU comeback cut it to a one point game, before USD pulled out the result.

In the first meeting, James Batemon, Steven Haney, Jr., Mattias Markusson, and Eli Scott all scored in double-digits for the Lions, the same quartet all did so in Thursday’s outing against Pepperdine as well. Markusson did so as part of his second-straight double-double, collecting 12 rebounds to go along with his 14 points.

Markusson joins Scott with three double-doubles on the season, the 50th and 51st players, respectively, to record at least three in their LMU careers. Markusson has two consecutive games hitting the double-figure points and rebounds mark.

A real weapon of late has been the defense of Jeffery McClendon. The junior has been a solid perimeter defender and leads the conference in both total steals (38) and steals per game (1.9). During WCC play, McClendon remains at the top of both categories, with 20 steals and an average of 2.4 per game.

The game will tip at 1 p.m. on Spectrum Sportsnet as the WCC Game of the Week. At halftime, members of LMU’s basketball past will be recognized as part of the program’s Alumni Day game.
