Pepperdine earned their lone West Coast Conference win earlier this season against LMU, beating the Lions in Malibu the first time these two programs met. The Waves hit a go-ahead three off a missed free throw with two seconds remaining to defeat LMU.

In that first meeting, four Lions scored in double figures (Steven Haney, Jr., Mattias Markusson, Eli Scott, and James Batemon), with Erik Johansson adding a season-high nine points.

Markusson had a career-night back on the Jan. 25 showdown. The sophomore center set a career high with 12 rebounds and seven made field goals for one of his three double-doubles on the season.

Also coming off a double-double is freshman Eli Scott. In Thursday’s game against No. 11 Saint Mary’s scott totalled 16 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of his rookie campaign. Five double-doubles is tied for 34th in program history for a career, and he’s done it in his first 24 games as a Lion

Saturday’s game will also feature a special recognition of the 1987-88 LMU men’s basketball team that went unbeaten in conference play, swept through the league’s tournament, and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, all while leading the country in scoring with over 110 points per game. The game will tip at 3 p.m. and will stream everywhere on TheW.tv.
