WCC Release

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - In their first seasons with the Loyola Marymount men's basketball program, James Batemon and Eli Scott have each been recognized for their achievements this season by the West Coast Conference. Batemon has been named to the All-WCC Second Team and Scott is a member of the conference's All-Freshman team, the WCC announced Tuesday.

Batemon has shined in his first season at LMU after transferring in as a junior. He led the Lions in points, assists, and minutes played, and is the only player to be in the top-5 in both points and assists in the conference. He ranks in the top-15 of the conference in field goal percentage (15th at 47.3 percent) and free throw percentage (10th at 79.8 percent). The guard finished tied for second in the conference in both 30-point games (two) and 20-point games (11) this season and added a pair of double-figure assist games.

Scott enters the WCC Tournament at the conference leader in offensive rebounds (2.9 per game), and led all freshman with five double-doubles. His 13.0 points per game rank 12th in the WCC among all players and second among freshman, and he leads all WCC freshman with 7.3 rebounds per game (sixth most overall in the conference) and a 48.0 percent shooting percentage (14th most overall in the conference). Scott is having one of the top freshman campaigns in program history, ranking fifth in total scoring and second in rebounding with the WCC Tournament still ahead.

The Lions will face Portland for the third time this year to open the WCC Championships Friday night at 6 p.m. at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The game will air locally on Spectrum Sportsnet and stream on TheW.tv.
