LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Loyola Marymount’s James Batemon has been named to the five-player West Coast Conference All-Tournament team his performance at this year’s conference championships.

The junior transfer scored 29 points in his first tournament action, a win over University of Portland, and followed that up with 27 points the following night against the top-seeded and eventual tournament winners, Gonzaga University.

Batemon led the Lions to their first tournament win since LMU defeated San Diego at the Orleans Arena in 2016. The Lions opened the tournament erasing a 15-point deficit to beat the Pilots and advance to the quarterfinals. On national television, Batemon kept LMU close to the nation’s #7 team, before the Bulldogs eventually pulled away late in the second half.

A total of 12 Lions have now been selected to the All-Tournament team, with Batemon joining Anthony Ireland in 2013 as the only two LMU players to be named to the team in the decade that the championships has been held in Las Vegas.

The 2018 All-Tournament team includes Jock Landale (SMC), Yoeli Childs (BYU), MVP Killian Tillie (GON),  Johnathan Williams (GON), and Batemon (LMU).
