Lions Add 6’8” Texas Native
Mikail Simmons will join the Lions for the 2017-2018 season
The LMU coaching staff announced today that Mikail Simmons, an incoming freshman from Plano East High School in Plano, Texas, will don an LMU uniform next season. Simmons played both basketball and football in high school.
Simmons made a mark on the football field as a wide receiver due to his impressive size and toughness, but the athleticism also shows well on the court. The 6’8” power forward averaged 3.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, and nearly two blocks a game en route to being named 6A All-District first team and Defensive Player of The Year.
According to the LMU coaching staff, “Mikail is an impact player and changes games with his ability in the paint on both ends of the floor.”
Simmons joins junior college transfer guards James Batemon (North Dakota State College of The Sciences) and Cameron Allen (Pensacola State College).
