INSIDE THE LIONS: Working For More
With WCC and Time Warner Cable SportsNet partnership, six more television games added to men's basketball 2012-13 schedule
Nov. 2, 2012
LOS ANGELES -- The 2012-13 LMU men's basketball officially begins with the first regular season game of the year one week from today, and as the season gets even closer, Lions' All-Access and Inside the Lions continues to take a look at this year's roster, and with it a look at sophomore CJ Blackwell.
In his first season as a true freshman, Blackwell showed flashes of a dynamic offensive game, erupting for 19 in the conference opener against San Francisco to help set the tone for the Lions' 21-13 season in 2011-12. He would finish playing in all but one game while averaging 6.2 points and 3.0 rebounds.
And the coaches think the sky is the limit for Blackwell and his game, but for him to take the next step in year two, he has found he has to work even harder. Injuries in the off season resulted in surgery and has put this Los Angeles native's work ethic to the ultimate test.
Often seen after games putting up hundreds of shots, Blackwell is using the lessons learned from his first season and the work needed to overcome injuries to reach his potential. Check out the entire video on Lions' All-Access
LMU will open their season on Friday, Nov. 9 when they host Pacifica at Gersten Pavilion with tip-off set for 7 p.m. The Lions will then travel to face SMU on Sunday, Nov. 11 to finish the opening weekend of play. Season tickets are still available, including special Friends and Family pricing. Visit the Ticket Homepage for more information.
