Nov. 3, 2006 Los Angeles, CA (Nov. 3) - Loyola Marymount's Dustin Brown, a 2006 LMU graduate, was selected in the eighth round of the 2006 NBA Develoment League Draft on Thursday by the Austin Toros. Brown played in a 107 games as a Lion from 2002-2006 and will now play for the Toros coached by Boston Celtic great Dennis Johnson. Brown, who was a key player of the bench in the Lions' run to the WCC championship game a year ago, will begin play this November as the Toros season begins on Nov. 25. The Toros are affiliated with the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs. The D-League is similar to baseball's Triple A leagues. The Toros finished in sixth place last season with a 24-24 record. Johnson, a five-time All-Star who won three titles during his NBA career, returns for his second season as coach. In four seasons, Brown averaged four points and three rebounds per contest, playing in every game his last two seasons and missing only seven games the Lions played in his entire career. His junior season he had a breakthrough season with 5.8 points and 3.6 rebounds. He also had career highs with 29 assists and 16 blocks that season.
