Inside the Lions with Ashley | A Quick 30 with The Mayor | LMU on Facebook | LMU on Twitter
LOS ANGELES -- The 2012-13 LMU men's basketball season is just three days away with the season opener at Gersten Pavilion on Nov. 9. Lions' All-Access continues its feature Inside the Lions, with its final two players. On Election Day, this one appropriately features the self-proclaimed mayor of LMU, redshirt senior Ashley Hamilton.
Hamilton enters his fifth season at LMU and he has been here from the beginning. He was part of that first class that Head Coach Max Good
took over in 2008-09. He has been a part of the program growing to a 21-win program and all the growing pains that comes with that.
He already has his Bachelor's degree in Business and is in the Masters of Education program this season, the fourth Lion to do so under Good. He has played in 79 games entering his final season, the most on the Lions' youthful active roster. He has 734 points and 411 rebounds and could become just the 14th player in LMU history to earn 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career.
He has also battled through injuries, which have kept him from playing a complete season in his four years, including a back injury that earned him a medical redshirt in that 2008-09 campaign and a foot injury last season that kept him out of 12 games.
With all the mileage, Hamilton has earned the Mayor label and he states "I have learned so much through it all." And in his final season, he has lofty expectations to add to that list, including a conference title. Check out the entire video on Lions' All-Access.
LMU will open their season on Friday, Nov. 9 when they host Pacifica at Gersten Pavilion with tip-off set for 7 p.m. The Lions will then travel to face SMU on Sunday, Nov. 11 to finish the opening weekend of play. Season tickets are still available, including special Friends and Family pricing. Visit the Ticket Homepage for more information.
