LMU has trailed by at least a dozen points in each of their last two games, and have come-from-behind to win both. If last season’s matchup with Boise State is any indication of how Saturday’s game will look, it will be another one down to the wire.

Down by 12 with just over three minutes to play, LMU men’s basketball had a chance at the win in the closing seconds thanks to full court ball pressure that erased all but one-point of that lead. Boise State, however, was able to hang on for an 80-79 win at Gersten Pavilion Monday night.

Last December, the Lions found themselves down 12 with less than three minutes on the clock in the game against the Broncos. LMU closed the game on a 13-2 run, but missed a pair of go-ahead shots as time expired, and ending the game one-point shy of the comeback, 80-79.

This year’s Boise State team and LMU each enter the game with one loss on the season. The Lions have won three straight after dropping their opener, and BSU opened the year with four straight before losing their first in the championship game of the 2017 Puerto Rico Tip-Off at Myrtle Beach.

Much of LMU’s ability to come back when down has been because of offensive rebounding and second-chance points. The Lions rank third in Division I with 17.75 offensive boards per game. Only Youngstown State (19.75) and Portland State (18.00) average more through Thursday.

Boise State will shoot and defend the three. BSU has made 60 threes this year, 10th most in the country, and hold teams to 24.5 percent from long-range, 16th best in the nation. Conversely, the Lions have been putting the focus on the inside, scoring at least 40 points in the paint over the last two games.
