THE CHAMPIONS 1961 WCAC Champions 20-7 10-2 The 1960-61 Lions won the school's first out-right conference championship...advanced to the NCAA West Regional, representing the WCAC...lost to Utah in the first round and defeated USC in the consolation game...finished the season with a 20-7 (10-2) record...played USC and Utah twice that season, the first two games of the season, losing to both.

1988 WCC Regular/Tourn. Champions The 1987-88 Lions finished the regular season in West Coast Conference play undefeated at 14-0, and finished 28-4 overall with the best record ever at LMU. The Lions defeated Wyoming in the first round of the West Regional and fell to North Carolina in the second round. The Lions went on a 25-game winning streak in the middle of the season, another LMU best.

1989 WCC Tournament Champions The Lions finished 10-4 in the WCC and 20-11 overall.The Lions swept three-straight in the conference tournament to win the Tournament Championship and earn the automatic bid and a seed in the Midwest Regional. In the NCAA tournament Arkansas over-powered the Lions in the first round, setting up the Lions' bid for redemption the next season.

1990 WCC Champions The Lions went on to accomplish what many thought was not possible as LMU would reach the Elite Eight, despite the tragic death of leader Hank Gathers. Led by the nation's leading scorer Bo Kimble, the Lions would defeat New Mexico State, defending champion Michigan, and Alabama before falling to UNLV in the West Regional Final.
