Briefly... Tyler Torano enters his third season of men's golf for LMU... earned two tournament individual championships in sophomore season, posting eight-under 208 at the Bill Cullum Invitational and a one-under 215 at the Folino Men's Invitational... became the seventh Lion since 2004 to qualify for the US Amateur Championship in August of 2012... shot a two-under 70 in the final round to win the 2011 State Farm Collegiate Open at Empire Lakes Golf Course June 15. Torano was the only player in the field to finish the 54-hole tournament under par. At LMU... 2011-12... was Lions best golfer in 2011-12 with a 73.3 stroke average... became just the second LMU men's golfer to win a pair of individual tournament titles in the same season thanks to shooting a final round 71 to earn the individual championship at the Folino Men's Invitational at Industry Hills Golf Club Feb. 21, finishing with a one-under 215... first title on the year was thanks to an eight-under 208 at the Bill Cullum Invitational on Oct. 18... finished with six top-20 finishes, three of which were in top-five... finished fourth at the Saint Mary's Invitational with a one-under 215... placed 12th at WCC Championships with a one-over 217, shooting rounds of 73, 74 and 70... 2010-11... played in 10 tournaments as a true freshman, finishing second on the team with a stroke average of 74.3... finished with four top-20 finishes, three of which were top-10... best round of career came in the first round of the Anteater Invitational, shooting a 68... he went on to finish eighth with a three-round 218... he finished tied for sixth with a three-under par 213 at the Purple and Red Invitational, hitting a first-round 69... he finished the Braveheart Classic with a two-over 218, placing in a tie for 10th... he hit a 229 at the WCC Championships to finish in a tie for 31st... High School... A four year varisty letter winner under coach Greg Ranney...helped Saint Augustine High School to the Division II CIF Championship. He was the individual champion at the 2010 San Diego City Conference Match Play Championship played at the U.S. Open course, Torrey Pines South, thanks in large part to earning the No. 1 seed in the match-play tournament. He was also the team's top golfer in leading them to the Western League Championship, going 19-3 overall and 9-1 in league play. He finished ranked second in the league in scoring. Played basketball and football as well. Personal... Tyler Murdock Torano was born on Jan. 18, 1992 in San Diego, Calif...son of Betty and Paul Torano...has one brother, Tucker...father, Paul played baseball for Southwestern Jr. College...chose LMU over Cal Poly and University of Hartford...he is an Accounting major.
