Torano Leads; Lions In Third
Men's golf opens spring season in a tie for third after first round of Folino Men's Invitational.

INDUSTRY, Calif. - Tyler Torano posted a first round 70 to enter the club house atop the leaderboard after one round of the 2012 Folino Men's Invitational at Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms in Industry, Calif. Torano paced the Lions to a tie for third in the three-round tournament.
The Lions finish the first round with a 10-over 298, tied with Sacramento State for third in the 10-team field. They trail Long Beach State by a stroke and tournament leader Pepperdine by six strokes.
Torano, who is rated 79th by Golfstat.com, was sitting at two-over par after 11 holes and then hit four birdies in the last seven holes to post a two-under 70 for the round. The sophomore leads Josh Anderson of Pepperdine and Kevin Roy of Long Beach State by a stroke entering Monday's second round.
Joining Torano in the top-20 is Bryan Bergna with a one-over 73 and Eduardo Chavez with a 76. Bergna shot par on 14 holes to sit in a tie for 9th entering round two. Chavez recovered with two birdies in the final five holes to sit in a tie for 18th in the field of 58 golfers.
Round two begins at 7:30 a.m., at Industry Hills, which is the home course to the LionsFund Golf Classic each year.
