Men's Golf Takes Fifth in Del Mar

Del Mar, CA (March 11) - The Loyola Marymount University men's golf team finished in fifth place at the 53rd Southern California Intercollegiate Golf Championship on Tuesday at The Santaluz Club in Del Mar, shooting a final round of 301 to move up one spot on the day.

The Lions finished with a three-round total of 903 in the 16-team tournament. Colorado-Colorado Springs won the tournament with a total score of 885. The Lions trailed San Diego (887), UC San Diego (891) and Redlands (900). LMU's final round of 301 moved them ahead of UC San Diego and UT-Chattanooga.

Leading the way for the Lions was freshman Chaz Inouye with a three-round total of 221. He finished the final two rounds with a one-over par 72 and an even par 71 to claim a top-20 finish. One stroke behind was fellow freshman Andrew Patterson with a 222. Patterson had a low-round of 70 on Monday.

Other scores for the Lions were junior Mike Farrell at 228, junior Joe Legacy at 237 and senior Will Luciano at 239.

The Lions will head to the San Diego Invitational at Del Mar Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, March 17-19.
