Sarnoff Sizzles Amidst Storm
Sarnoff sits in the top 20 after day one of the Barona Cup

LAKESIDE, Calif. -- Junior Jake Sarnoff currently sits in the top 20 after finishing the first two rounds of the tournament in a tie for 8th place. Sarnoff shot an opening day 143 at the Barona Collegiate Cup hosted by San Diego State at the Barona Creek Golf Club in Lakeside, Calif.
In a race against the weather, LMU finishes day one of the Barona Collegiate Cup in a tie for 10th place shooting 373 in the first round and 378 in the second ending the day with a 751 score. LMU sits in a three way tie with Utah and Arkansas State in the 16 team field with WCC rival San Diego sitting at the top of the team scoreboard in first.
Sarnoff posted par in the first round and improved on it in the second round shooting 71. Four strokes behind him in a tie for 27th place is freshman Tyler Torano who also improved his first round score of 74 with a second round of 73. Sophomore transfer Eduardo Chavez ended the day with a score of 151 while sophomore Bryan Bergna shot 152. Upperclassmen John Lim and Andrew Waldron, both familiar with the course rounded out the Lions individual scores both shooting 159.
The Lions look to keep up the momentum in the third round tomorrow.
