Lions End in Eighth at WCC Championships

HOLLISTER, Calif. -- Junior Jake Sarnoff completed his third WCC championship tournament in a tie for 7th place, his best finish for this tournament. Sarnoff, who placed 19th his freshman year and 17th last year in the WCC Championship, had a consistent and steady two day outing posting scores of 72 and 71 after day one while shooting a 75 Tuesday to solidify a three way tie for 7th at the San Juan Oaks Golf Course. Behind Sarnoff, the Lions saw a big improvement from sophomore Bryan Bergna, who came into Tuesday in a tie for 30th place. Bergna shot par in round three bumping him up to a 25th place finish. Freshman Tyler Torano also made an impact entering round three in 36th place then putting up a -1 to climb the leader board to 31st place. Sophomore Eduardo Chavez ended in 35th place while Senior John Lim rounded out the five Lions with a 37th place finish. As a team the Lions finished in 8th place, with a three round total score of 902. The Lions had their best outing as a team Tuesday in round 3, shooting 296. University of San Francisco took home the championship with Pepperdine finishing 6 strokes behind them in second place. --GO LIONS--
