Lions Future Provides Big Final Round

DANVILLE, Calif. –The future looks bright for the LMU men’s golf program as the underclassmen led a big final day push at the 2016 West Coast Conference Championship on Wednesday at Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, Calif.

The Lions trimmed 17 strokes off their team score from the previous day, shooting a final round 287. Leading the charge was sophomore Billy Pollock with the third best round overall on the day, shooting a five-under 67. Freshman Riley Elmes was second on the day with a 72, followed by sophomore Nick Jan with a 73.

LMU finished with a final three-round score of 888, moving ahead of Pacific in the final standings to finish eighth.

Overall, sophomore Connor Campbell led the Lions with three round score of 221, shooting a final round 75 and finishing in a tie for 20th. Fellow senior Braden Baer finished with a 223, positing a 75 himself on Wednesday. He finished tied for 24th with Pollock.

Jan and Elmes rounded out the Lions final standings at a tie for 32nd with overall scores of 226.

Saint Mary’s ran away with the title, shooting a team score of 839, 23 strokes better than second place finisher Pepperdine.
