FARMINGDALE, New York - The LMU men's golf team finished tied for eighth in the final standings of 16-team The McLaughlin hosted by St. John's University at Bethpage Golf Course in Farmingdale, New York on Sunday. Results were reported incorrectly following the match, and after they were adjusted, the Lions finished with a three-round 868.
LMU posted a second round 289 and a final round 288 to finish tied with Binghamton in the first tournament of the 2012-13 season.
Leading the charge the final two rounds was senior Bryan Bergna, who posted a second round 69 and a final round 68 to finish in a tie for fourth with a one-under 209 on Sunday at Bethpage's Red Course.
Following Bergna was junior Tyler Torano, who finished with a 215, good for a tie at 22nd. Senior Eduardo Chavez finished in a tie for 47th with a 219. The Lions traveled with a pair of freshmen, Chase Nicolai and Connor Campbell. Campbell was tied for 70th with a 228 while Nicolai finished with tied for 75th with a 229 (his third round score was reported incorrectly and was corrected from a 73 to an 82).
Next up for the Lions is the 2012 Saint Mary's Invitational on Sept. 24-25.
