Lions in a Tie for Ninth

SMC Invite Results - Day One SEASIDE, Calif. -- LMU men's golf posted a second round 298 to move up in the standings after the first day of the 2012 Saint Mary's Invitational at Seaside, Calif. The Lions sit in a tie for ninth with Sacramento State heading into Tuesday's final round. Junior Tyler Torano made the biggest jump in the standings thanks to his second round 69. He is in a tie for ninth with a two-round 144. He opened with a 75 in the first round at the Bayonet and Blackhorse Golf Courses. Two strokes behind Torano is senior Eduardo Chavez, who is in a tie for 15th after a pair of one-over rounds (73). He enters the final round with a 146. As a team the Lions posted a two-round 606 are a stoke ahead of Kansas State, who is 11th with an 607. UC Irvine is eighth with an 600 while host Saint Mary's leads the field with a 575. Rounding out the Lions scores are senior Bryan Bergna in a tie for 48th with a 153, freshman Chase Nicolai at a tie for 77th with a 162 and freshman Connor Campbell in 84th with a 171. The final round begins at 8 a.m., Tuesday.
