RENO, Nev. -- The LMU men's golf team finished the 2009 Wolf Pack Classic hosted by the University of Nevada-Reno with a three-round 881, wrapping up 12th place out of 13 teams. However, the final score doesn't tell the whole story for the final day as the Lions recovered from a tough opening day with the fourth best round on Tuesday.

LMU posted a final round 285, trailing just San Diego's 275, tournament winner Wichita State's 280 and Kansas State's 281. The Lions finished at 17-over par, thanks in large to freshman Boris Stantchev.

Following a top-10 finish in his first collegiate tournament, Stantchev finished his second round with a four-under 68 at Wolf Run Golf Club on Tuesday. He finishes the tournament in a tie for 28th with a three-over 219, matching his score from the Palouse Collegiate on Sept. 15.

Jake Sarnoff and Bryan Bergna added to the Lions' solid final round with a pair of par-72 scores. Sarnoff finished in a tie for 33rd with a 220 while Bergna posts a 222, good for a tie at 45th.

Rounding out the Lions' scoring was junior John Lim with a 223 and senior Blake Nicolai with a 228. Lim posted a final round 73 to place in a tie for 52nd while Nicolai posted a 75, good for a tie at 66th.

The Lions will play at the Del Walker Intercollegiate on Oct. 22-23 in Long Beach, Calif.
