SIMI VALLEY, Calif. -- LMU men's golf finished the fall portion of their 2012-13 campaign with a ninth place finish at the Bill Cullum Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club on in Simi Valley on Tuesday. The Lions posted completed the second round with a 293 and then posted a final round 300.
The Lions finished the tournament with a score of 891, two strokes behind Boise State and four behind Southern Utah. San Diego claimed the tournament title with an 850.
Eduardo Chavez led the Lions in the final round with a 72, finishing the field of 107 in a tie for 37th with a three-round score of 224. One stroke ahead of Chavez was Bryan Bergna with a three-round tally of 223. He posted a final round of 73 to finish in a tie for 35th.
Leading the way on the tournament was Tyler Torano with a 221. He finished in a tie for 23rd. He posted a second-round 68 to sit in striking distance of repeating his 2011 title at the Bill Cullum. He finished in a tie for 23rd.
Freshman Connor Campbell had one of his better tournament's of the fall season, hitting a 226 for a tie at 48th. Rounding out the Lions' scores was Boris Stantchev with a 234, good for a tie at 81st.
Freshman Cole Young played as an individual and finished in a tie for 93rd in his first collegiate tournament.
The Lions will begin the spring season on Feb. 11-12, 2013 at the Farms Invitational hosted by San Diego at the Farms Golf Course in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
