A Mid-Year Change As Lions Head to Desert
LMU Sports Network talks to transfers Nick Jan and Braden Baer on transferring a mid-year.
Feb. 20, 2014
LOS ANGELES-- Nick Jan and Braden Baer shared a connection in deciding to come to LMU and to play for the LMU men's golf program at mid-year and that was to Head Coach Brad Lanning. That tie has helped the two make the transition to their new university and team that much easier.
Baer, a transfer from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, and Jan, a transfer from Ohio State, were both recruited by Lanning prior to him coming to LMU. They couldn't be happier joining their new coach at LMU. They sat down with LMU Sports Network to talk about the transition, their new team and outlook on the rest of this season.
Baer will be one of the five Lions heading to the Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate held at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif., Friday-Sunday, Feb. 21-23.
Joining Baer will be senior Tyler Torano, sophomores Blake Meek and Chase Nicolai, and freshman Blake Meek. Play begins on Friday with each day featuring a round of 18 holes. The Classic Club was host to the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in 2006, 2007 and 2008. It is 7,305 years and is par-72.
The field is one of the largest on the season for the Lions as it features 23 teams, including LMU and host Wyoming. Also included in the field are Cal Poly, Iowa State, George Mason, Texas Tech, Colorado, TCU, UC Riverside, Kansas, Idaho, Nebraska, Arkansas-Little Rock, Kansas State, Oregon State, Denver, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, UC Santa Barbara, Oregon, UT Arlington, Louisana-Monroe, and San Francisco.
