Elmes Gears Up for NCAA Men’s Golf Tournament

LOS ANGELES – After hearing his name called on the national selection show, Loyola Marymount junior Riley Elmes is set to compete in the 2018 NCAA Regional Tournament in Stockton, California from May 14-16.




The regional site will be played at the Reserve at Spanos Park, a par 72, 7,239 yard course. The format of the regional will be 54 total holes with 18 played each day. Tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m. from Monday through Wednesday.


As it stands, Elmes will open the first round at 9:53 a.m. on Monday morning from the first tee. Teams and individuals will be re-paired according to score after the first and second rounds. Tee times may be adjusted for weather by the committee.

NCAA Tournament Format


Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals not on those qualifying teams who will compete in the finals.


Thirteen teams and ten individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have fourteen teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals. Playoffs and tiebreakers, as set forth on pages 10-11, will be used, if necessary, to determine advancement to the finals. The games committee will do everything possible to complete 54 holes within the scheduled three-day period.


Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 25-30 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Oklahoma State University is the host institution for the 2018 championships.
