Torano, Sarnoff Qualify For Big Championships
Jake Sarnoff qualifies for PGA's Reno Open; Tyler Torano seventh Lion to go to US Amateur Championship.

LOS ANGELES -- LMU's 2011-12 one-two punch of Jake Sarnoff and Tyler Torano continued to shine this summer as they qualified for top tournaments in the coming week's, including a stop on the PGA Tour for the recently graduated Sarnoff.
Sarnoff, who finished his career this May, shot a round of 66 at the Hidden Valley Country Club on Monday to earn a spot at the 2012 Reno-Tahoe Open at Montreuz Golf and Country Club in Reno, Nev. Four players from the field of 64 players qualified.
Sarnoff will start the first round of the Reno-Tahoe Open on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 8:50 a.m. He will start on the first hole and will be paired with Kyle Reifers and Miguel Ange Carballo.
Coverage of the first round will be on the Golf Channel beginning at 3:30 p.m.
As for Torano, he qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo., Aug. 13-19.
Torano posted a two-round score of 143 to take second at The Farms in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., on July 30. He was one of three from the qualifier to earn a trip to this year's U.S. Amateur, the seventh Lion to do so since 2004.
