LOS ANGELES - The LMU men's golf team will play in 10 tournaments in 2012-13, including The McLaughlin hosted by St. John's University at Bethpage Golf Course in Farmingdale, New York, to start the season on Sept. 15-16. The season will cap with the annual West Coast Conference Championships hosted at Olympic Golf Course in Bremerton, Wash., April 15-17, 2013. The Lions will start the season at the famous Bethpage State Park Golf Courses, playing on the red course. The Black Course has hosted some of the top golf tournament's, including the PGA Tour's The Barclays that concluded the end of August. Following the opener, the Lions will play three straight tournaments that are repeats from 2011-12. On Sept. 24-25 the Lions will head to the Saint Mary's Invitational for the sixth straight season, playing at the Bayonet & Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, Calif. The Lions finished 6th out of 15 a year ago. October will include the Cabo Collegiate hosted by Arkansas and Santa Clara (Oct. 14-16) at Querencia Golf Course in Baja California Sur, Mexico, and the Bill Cullum Invitational hosted by Cal State Northridge (Oct. 22-23) at Wood Ranch Golf Course. The Lions played the Cabo for the first time last season and finished 7th of 12. LMU has been a consistent participant of the Bill Cullum, making their 11th trip to the tournament since 1999. Tyler Torano won the Bill Cullum last year with a eight-under 208 while the Lions won the team title in 2006. LMU will then head into the spring portion of their schedule with four of the six tournaments new to the schedule from a year ago. It will start with the 2013 The Farms Collegiate Invitational hosted by San Diego on Feb. 11-12, 2013. LMU last played in USD's tournament in 2010. A week later the Lions will play in the Folino Men's Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 17-19 at Industry Hills Golf Course.This is the third straight year the Lions will play in the Folino, placing fifth out of 10 in 2012. The Lions will then play their third tournament in as many weeks when they head back to the Del Walker Invitational hosted by Long Beach State on Feb. 25-26 at Virginia Country Club. This is the first trip to the Del Walker as a team. LMU will then head to the Sacramento State Intercollegiate Cup for the first time, traveling to Valley Hi Country Club on Mar. 11-12. They will then complete the regular season with a trip to the Anteater Invitational on Mar. 25-26 at El Niguel Country Club. It will be the Lions seventh trip to the Anteater since 2001. They finished eighth in 2011. The Lions will then have three weeks before playing in the WCC Championships at Olympic Golf Course in Bremerton, Wash., April 15-17.
