Men's golf heads to Bill Cullum Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The fourth tournament of the young 2011-12 season for the LMU men's golf team will be a familiar one as the Lions head to the 2011 Bill Cullum Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club, Oct. 17-18. The Lions won the tournament in 2006 with a team total of 873 and Wood Ranch was host to the Lions' Carson Daly Intercollegiate from 2004-2006.
This will be the Lions 10th trip to a tournament hosted by Cal State Northridge, the first since earning three straight top three finishes in a row from 2006-07 through 2008-09, winning the Bill Cullum in 2006. The field will play two rounds on Monday starting at 7:45 a.m., with final round action on Tussday starting at 7 a.m.
The Bill Cullum Invitational is in its 16th season and will include Arizona State, CSU Bakersfield, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Denver, Long Beach STate, LMU, Sacramento State, Southern Utah, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, Utah State and the host Matadors.
In 2006 the Lions won the Bill Cullum with rounds of 292, 290 and 291. Brian Locke (2006-09) won the individual title with a 207, shooting rounds of 70, 69, 68.
LMU will send its entire roster to this year's tournament, with Bryan Bergna, Jake Sarnoff, Tyler Torano, Boris Stantchev and Eduardo Chavez competing as the Lions team of five. Andrew Waldron, Tyler Little, Kyle Berka and Spencer Rowley will play as individuals.
Wood Ranch Golf Club is in Simi Valley and was home to the Lions' Carson Daly Intercollegiate in 2004, 2005 and 2006. The Lions won at the course in 2006 with a three-round 900.
