LOS ANGELES -- LMU Men's Golf Head Coach Brad Lanning announced on Monday that Billy Pollock of Marist High School in Oregon has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend LMU and play for the men's golf program starting in the fall of 2014.

Pollock, who enters his senior season at Marist located in Eugene, Ore., finished seventh at the 2013 Oregon OSAA 5A Boy's Golf State Championships last May. He shot a final round 72 to move 10 spots into the top-10.

"I knew his family when I was at Oregon, and knew he was a great for us and for me coming in late for the recruiting process in the 2014 class," said Head Coach Brad Lanning. "He is a good addition for building a team."

Pollock found success this summer, which included becoming a qualifier for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. He also won the 2013 Peter Jacobson OGA event with rounds of 75 and 70.

One of his better tournaments over the summer was his second place finish at the Southern Oregon OGA event where he shot a pair of rounds at 69. He also qualified for the 2013 Junior America's Cup Oregon Team (rounds of 79-72-71) and the the Big I junior national Championship.

"One good thing about him is that he is very undervalued from a rankings perspective," said Lanning. "He hasn't played very many national tournaments at the AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) level, so his ranking is not as high. But he has established himself as one of the top high school players in Oregon and he is can compete against the best junior golfers in the nation. "

He also made team Oregon 1 at Hogan cup, place second in team points for the OGA season and was a medalist at the Oregon state junior match play.
