Dec. 9, 2003

Los Angeles, CA (Dec. 9) - High school standouts Jeremy Bovill and Gregg Gauvin have signed National Letters of Intent with the Loyola Marymount University men's golf program and will join the Lions in the Fall of 2004. It is the second recruiting class for Head Coach Alex Galvan, who enters his second season.

Bovill, a senior at Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, Calif., is a three-year letter winner and a three-time All-Marmonte League selection. He has advanced to the CIF Regionals, the CIF Southern Sectionals and the CIF State Finals. Competing on the national stage, Bovill has several top-20 finishes to his credit including sixth in the FCWT Twelve Bridges Junior Championship, 10th in the AJGA Morgan Run Junior Championship and 16th in the AJGA Marshallia Ranch Junior Championship.

Bovill was third in the 2002 Los Angeles City Junior Championships and has finished in the top-five in many local tournaments. Hoping to enter into business management at LMU, Bovill has also been active outside of golf at Agoura High School serving in volunteer organizations.

Gauvin will come to LMU from Valencia High School. Like his new teammate, he has participated in many events locally. He played in the 2002 and 2003 Junior World Golf Championships at Torrey Pines Golf Course. He was the winner of the Jack B. Hopper Memorial Golf Tournament in 2003 at the California Country Club. That tournament was a part of the JAGS Tour.

He has also claimed a win at the SCPGA at Simi Valley Golf Course in June of this summer. He is coached by Brady Riggs of Woodley Lakes and is a four-year member of the Valencia Golf team.

The Lions will begin the spring 2004 season on March 8-9 at the Braveheart Classic hosted by UC Riverside.
