Men's Soccer Featured in LMU Magazine

LMU men's soccer has sent nine players into the MLS and aims to continue that trend. LMU Magazine took a look inside the program and the successful transitions the Lions have made from college to the pro ranks.


Six Lions Earn All-WCC Honors

Six Lions were honored by the West Coast Conference Tuesday as the league released the 2011 All-WCC and All-Freshman men's soccer teams. Leading the Lion contingent was senior Artur Jozkowicz who was named to the first team.


Lions Drop Home Finale

A San Diego goal scored in the ninth minute of play was all that would come of a well fought WCC match Wednesday at Sullivan Field as the LMU men's soccer team fell 1-0 to the Toreros.


2011 WCC Title on the Line

The rollercoaster season that has been 2011 for the LMU men's soccer team takes its final twist this week as the Lions continue their quest for the WCC title. On Wednesday, Nov. 9, LMU welcomes San Diego to Sullivan Field for a 2 p.m. kick off. On Friday, Nov. 11, the regular season comes to a close in Moraga, Calif., with a 2 p.m. match at Saint Mary's.

Phil Da Silva concluded his collegiate career with the Lions in 2011... departed LMU with 81 career matches played, 4,574 minutes, 13 goals, 12 assists and 38 points.

At LMU...

Second team All-WCC... one of three players to appear in all 20 matches... earned 17 starts... tallied three goals and five assists... netted a pair of goals in a 3-2 loss at Gonzaga (Oct. 7)... scored his third goal two days later in a 3-2 win at Portland (Oct. 9)... also assisted the game-winner at Portland, a win that kick started a five-match unbeaten streak... had an assist at Oral Roberts (Sept. 1) and two helpers in a 4-1 win over UC Riverside (Sept. 9)... final assist of the year was on the game-winner in a 2-1 final against San Francisco (Oct. 16)...

WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll... National Scholar-Athlete... played in all 20 games, starting 13... tied for second on the team with six goals and added two assists to tie for third in overall points with 14... attempted 33 shots, putting 17 on target (.515 SOG%)... netted two game-winning-goals... WCC co-Player of the Week (Sept. 27)... LMU went 6-1-1 when he either scored or assisted on a goal... scored game-winning goals at Cal Poly (Sept. 23) and at Portland (Nov. 5)... also scored in wins over Cal State Northridge (Sept. 5) and vs. Saint Mary's (Nov. 12), in tie at UC Riverside (Sept. 26), and at San Diego (Oct. 27)... assisted on game-winning goal at Portland (Nov. 5)... had an assist in win over Gonzaga (Oct. 8)...

Honorable Mention All-WCC... LMU's second-leading scorer with three goals and three assists for nine points... played in all 21 matches, starting 10... attempted 23 shots, putting 13 on target... two of his three goals were game-winners... scored deciding goal in 2-1 upset at #6 UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 13)... netted winner in overtime to beat San Francisco in WCC opener (Oct. 2)... also scored in return leg at San Francisco (Nov. 1)... assisted game-winning goals at San Diego State (Sept. 1) and Gonzaga (Nov. 6)... also supplied assist on second goal at Santa Clara (Nov. 13)...

Played in all 20 games, making eight starts... scored on goal with two assists for four points... attempted 28 shots, 13 of which were on goal... scored his first career goal in the season finale vs. San Francisco (Nov. 16)... assisted the game-winning goal vs. #24 Cal Poly (Sept. 5)... also had an assist vs. Gonzaga (Oct. 12)...
