Diego Souza returned to his alma mater in the 2010 season as a volunteer assistant coach. Souza brings with him the experience of having been a part of the 2003 and 2004 Lions squads that made the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
During his career with the Lions, Souza was integral in leading the Lions to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2003 and 2004, including a first-round bye and #13 overall seed in 2003. He made 70 appearances for LMU, scoring three goals and providing five assists. In his four years on the Bluff, the Lions compiled a record of 40-31-10. A business major, Souza earned ESPN the Magazine All-District honors in 2005 and was named to the WCC All-Academic Team in both 2004 and 2005.
Souza is a 2003 graduate of Torrance High School, where he was an All-South Bay and All-CIF Division III selection as a senior. He was a two-time All-Ocean League pick, including winning MVP honors one year. Additionally, he earned Daily Breeze All-Area team honors and was a three-time South All-Tournament team pick, as well as being named the California all-star game MVP.
