Lions Unbeaten Streak Ends in Loss to Pilots

Looking a bit out of rhythm for the first time in nearly a month, the LMU men's soccer team fell, 3-1, to Portland Friday at Sullivan Field. The loss snapped a five-game unbeaten streak that the Lions (-6-10-1, 4-4-1 WCC) were riding since a 3-2 win at Portland on Oct. 9.

Lions' Unbeaten Streak Extends to Four Straight Games

For the second consecutive meeting, the LMU and Santa Clara men's soccer teams found themselves in a scoreless tie through 90 minutes of play. But this time around, neither team struck for the game-winning golden goal as the WCC match-up at Buck Shaw Stadium ended in a 0-0 draw Friday night.

Max Young concluded his career at LMU in 2011 after three years on the field and a redshirt season in 2008... became first LMU goalkeeper to score a goal in the run of play at Santa Clara (Oct. 15, 2010)... in three active seasons posted a 1.15 GAA, made 46 saves, recorded three shutouts and held a 7-4-2 record in 17 total appearances (1253 minutes)...

At LMU...
2011...

Saw action in seven matches and earned four starts... posted a 0.72 GAA while going 3-1-1 with two shutouts... made 18 saves in 498 minutes of action... came off the bench in his first three appearances, earning his first win of the season in the third (Oct. 9 at Portland)... the first of four starts came on Oct. 14 versus Santa Clara where he made one save and earned a shutout... made a career-high eight saves in a scoreless draw at Santa Clara on Oct. 28...

2010...
Made two appearances, starting one... logged 152 minutes... posted GAA of 1.19 with three saves... came off the bench to play 62 minutes at Santa Clara in which he did not allow a goal and scored the game-tying goal on a header in the 89th minute (Oct. 15)... started at San Diego, playing all 90 minutes...

2009...
WCC Player of the Week (Sept. 14)... started seven of his eight matches... posted 1.49 goals-against-average in 604 minutes... made 25 saves and registered one shutout... turned in record of 4-2-0 in his starts... earned WCC Player of the Week honors in his first week of collegiate action after making eight saves in his college debut to beat #6 UC Santa Barbara... registered first career clean sheet with four saves in 1-0 win over UC Riverside (Sept. 24)... recorded wins over San Francisco (Oct. 2) and at #19 San Diego (Oct. 22)...
