Lions Unbeaten Streak Ends in Loss to Pilots

Looking a bit out of rhythm for the first time in nearly a month, the LMU men's soccer team fell, 3-1, to Portland Friday at Sullivan Field. The loss snapped a five-game unbeaten streak that the Lions (-6-10-1, 4-4-1 WCC) were riding since a 3-2 win at Portland on Oct. 9.

Lions' Unbeaten Streak Extends to Four Straight Games

For the second consecutive meeting, the LMU and Santa Clara men's soccer teams found themselves in a scoreless tie through 90 minutes of play. But this time around, neither team struck for the game-winning golden goal as the WCC match-up at Buck Shaw Stadium ended in a 0-0 draw Friday night.

A dominating offensive performance led to a pair of second-half goals as the LMU men's soccer team won its third straight match, 2-1, over San Francisco Sunday at Sullivan Field.

John McFarland headed in the game-winner six-and-a-half minutes into overtime as the LMU men's soccer team claimed a 1-0 win over visiting Santa Clara Friday at Sullivan Field.

Coming off a big WCC win at Portland last week, the LMU men's soccer team returns to Sullivan Field to host Santa Clara on Friday, Oct. 14 and San Francisco on Sunday, Oct. 16. Both WCC matches kick off at 3 p.m.

Briefly...
Max Young enters his fourth year at LMU and third on the field after redshirting in 2008... burst onto the collegiate scene with a win over #6 UC Santa Barbara in his collegiate debut... became first LMU goalie to score a goal in the run of play at Santa Clara (Oct. 15, 2010)... a physically imposing, athletic goalkeeper... will compete for the starting job... spent summer of 2009 with L.A. Galaxy Under-20 team...

At LMU...
2010...

Made two appearances, starting one... logged 152 minutes... posted GAA of 1.19 with three saves... came off the bench to play 62 minutes at Santa Clara in which he did not allow a goal and scored the game-tying goal on a header in the 89th minute (Oct. 15)... started at San Diego, playing all 90 minutes...

2009...
WCC Player of the Week (Sept. 14)... started seven of his eight matches... posted 1.49 goals-against-average in 604 minutes... made 25 saves and registered one shutout... turned in record of 4-2-0 in his starts... earned WCC Player of the Week honors in his first week of collegiate action after making eight saves in his college debut to beat #6 UC Santa Barbara... registered first career clean sheet with four saves in 1-0 win over UC Riverside (Sept. 24)... recorded wins over San Francisco (Oct. 2) and at #19 San Diego (Oct. 22)...
