We Are LMU Lions: Season Under the Lights (video)

LOS ANGELES - The Season Under the Lights began Saturday night as the LMU men's soccer team hosted Cal State Northridge in an exhibition match at Sullivan Field. More than 600 fans witnessed a bit of history as the first LMU Athletics outdoor competition took place under the lights.

The Matadors struck with the lone goal of regulation play as Pol Schonhofer Bartra scored on a free kick in the 18th minute. Taking advantage of the non-counting "friendly" the teams agreed to play an additional 30-minute period, during which CSUN added a second goal.

The Lions showcased some highlight moments, including the play of freshman midfielder Adrien Perez, who led the squad with two shots.

LMU's official season opener is Friday, Aug 30 against Florida International. The 7 p.m. kickoff is the second of a doubleheader of LMU soccer as the women begin the day with a 4 p.m. kickoff versus Montana.
