FULLERTON, Calif. - Freshman Adrien Perez netted his first collegiate goal and Trent Clifton also scored as the LMU men's soccer team blanked Cal State Fullerton, 2-0 Friday night.

The Lions moved to 2-0-0 on the young season while the Titans fell to 1-2-0.

A week after their exciting season-opening 2-1 win over Florida International at Sullivan Field, the Lions began a three-game road swing at CSUF, seeking a second straight win on the year, and a second straight victory over the Titans. Mission accomplished.

Just 12:46 into the match Perez put the Lions on the board, heading a cross from Sean Sears past the reach of Titan keeper Bryan Escalante. John McFarlin was also credited with an assist on the goal.

Just before the half closed, Clifton made it 2-0 Lions, punching in a close shot off a double assist from Michael Meissner and Juan De Rada.

LMU outshot the Titans 20-11 for the balance of the match. CSUF also managed just one shot on frame, which LMU goalkeeper Paul Blanchette saved for his first win and shutout of the season.

The Lions will look to take their hot start across the country next week, traveling to Colgate on Friday and Cornell on Sunday.
