LOS ANGELES - For the second time in two games the duo of John McFarlin and Juan De Rada teamed up for a goal as the LMU men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw versus visiting UC Davis Sunday afternoon at Sullivan Field.
The Lions move to 4-1-1 on the season while the Aggies are now 3-4-1 overall.
It was the visitor who struck first as Matt Sheldon notched his third goal of the season at the 23:03 mark, slotting a shot from 12 yards out into the right corner netting. Alex Aguiar earned an assist on the play.
The Lions responded 10 minutes later as McFarlin fed De Rada in the middle of the box. De Rada, who scored two goals in LMU's win over Sacramento State Friday, sent a shot into the right corner for the equalizer.
In the 58th minute, UC Davis' Nick Grigoriev was issued his second yellow card, forcing the Aggies to play a man down for the remainder of the game. Despite that, the Lions were unable to break through as the two teams matched each other with seven shots apiece in the second half and two overtime periods.
LMU concludes non-conference play next week, traveling to face UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, Sept. 29. Kick off against the Gauchos is 5 p.m.
