Men's Soccer Add Two Goalkeepers to 2014 Recruiting Class

LOS ANGELES - The LMU men's soccer 2013 recruiting class continues to grow as Head Coach Paul Krumpe announced Monday the addition of Dante Pezzi and Carl Rubschlager to the Lion program.

Pezzi (6'2", 175 lbs), who hails from Westlake Village, Calif., is one of two goalkeepers in the 2014 class. He prepped at Oaks Christian High School, where he was named team MVP and All Tri-Valley First Team in 2013. He played his club ball for Santa Monica United U19 with current Lion, Griffin Bell.

"Dante is a very athletic young man," said Krumpe. "He has all the tools needed to succeed as a keeper at this level. He is comfortable catching in a crowd and is a strong shot stopper. I think that he has a chance to be very good."

Rubschlager (6'0", 180 lbs), joins the Lion program from Pasadena, Calif., and rounds out the Lion goalkeeping unit from Loyola High School. In his one year at Loyola, Rubschlager led the team to a top-5 national ranking, He was a longtime member of the Irvine Strikers Academy before moving to Exiles Black U18 for his senior year in 2013.

"Carl is going to be an excellent goalkeeper at LMU," Krumpe said. "He is very strong technically and has great leadership qualities."

The due join Raymundo Barajas, Jae Hong "Ben" Kim, Alvaro Madrigal, Antonio Porreco and Grant Sampson who all signed National Letters of Intent, and spring transfer Greg Antognoli, as members of the LMU 2014 recruiting class.
