Oseguera Joins Men's Soccer Staff

LOS ANGELES - Mike Oseguera has joined the LMU men's soccer staff as an assistant/goalkeeper coach, 18th year Head Coach Paul Krumpe announced Thursday.

"Mike is the perfect fit for us here at LMU," said Krumpe. "He is an extremely knowledgeable coach, able to train our goalkeepers and push them to achieve the next level in their development.He will also be invaluable working with our field players and brings a wealth of experience, both as a player and a coach, to this position."

Oseguera spent the last six years (2009-14) at Concordia University (Irvine), working with both the men's and women's programs as an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach. During his tenure with the Eagles, he trained five All-Golden State Athletic Conference goalkeepers, two All-American goalkeepers and 14 GSAC Defenders/Goalkeepers of the Week. The Eagles' men's and women's programs won a combined three GSAC Championships and three GSAC Tournament titles.

Oseguera is also active in both the club and prep ranks, as well as serving as a private goalkeeper coach. He currently serves as the West Coast Futbol Club U16 head coach, the goalkeeper coach for the entire club and the Associate Head Coach and Goalkeeper Coach for Servite High School in Anaheim.



A four-year student-athlete at Cal, Oseguera was named an All-Pac-10 honorable mention selection as a sophomore in 2003, and was on the Bears' Pac-10 Championship team in 2006. He went on to compete for the California Cougars of Major Indoor Soccer League (2006) and had trials with both the LA Galaxy and Chivas USA.

Oseguera began his coaching career as a goalkeeper coach and graduate assistant at Cal State Fullerton in 2006, and coached at Patedores FC in 2006-08. He served as goalkeeper coach for Irvine Strikers Youth Academy from 2010-12 and for the Orange County Blue Star PDL U23 and European Tour from 2009-13.

He earned his bachelor of arts degree in social welfare from Cal in 2006 and recently competed his masters of coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University. He holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) "D" license.

"Mike offers a fantastic youthful enthusiasm which I completely appreciate after coaching this program for over 18 seasons," Krumpe added. "His addition to our staff will pay dividends immediately."
