LOS ANGELES - LMU's quest for a second straight West Coast Conference men's soccer title and the program's furthest advancement in the NCAA Tournament begins August 23 with a home exhibition match, followed by a trip to the state of the 2014 College Cup, 17th year Head Coach Paul Krumpe announced Tuesday.

The full 20-match slate has been unveiled and includes 10 home contests, three 2013 NCAA Tournament participants and a new format of play for WCC play.

The Lions open the 2014 season under the lights of Sullivan Field, hosting an exhibition match against Cal State Northridge - the first of three 2013 NCAA Tournament opponents on the LMU slate.

The season officially opens with a four-game road swing, beginning in Durham, N.C., at Duke (Aug. 29) and Elon (Aug. 31), and just down the road from Cary, N.C., the site of the 2014 College Cup.

The Lions will remain on the road for matches at UC Davis (Sept. 5) and Sacramento State (Sept. 7) before returning to Sullivan Field for their official home opener against Colgate (Sept. 14). The brief two-game homestand continues with UC Irvine (Sept. 18).

Following a quick trip to Xavier on Sept. 23, the Lions return home to host Grand Canyon (Sept. 26) and Santa Clara (Oct. 3). A non-conference counting road trip takes the Lions to San Francisco (Sept. 5) and San Diego (Oct. 10) before a final tune-up for WCC play against UC Santa Barbara (Oct. 14) on Sullivan Field.

With the addition of Pacific men's soccer to the West Coast Conference beginning in 2014, conference-counting games will be a single round of play, a change from the previous home-and-home, double round-robin play. LMU hosts four WCC matches at Sullivan Field, including Pacific (Oct. 17), Saint Mary's (Oct. 19), San Francisco (Nov. 7) and San Diego (Nov. 15). The Lions will travel to face Portland (Oct. 31), Gonzaga (Nov. 2) and Santa Clara (Nov. 9).
