LOS ANGELES -- Alex Lam, a member of the LMU men's soccer program, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 18, in his hometown of Honolulu, Hawaii. Lam, a student in the College of Business Administration, was a member of the Lions' 2013 West Coast Conference Championship team.
He was 20 years old.
"Alex embodied all that was good in sports, and the staff and team loved him because of it," said LMU Athletics Director Dr. William Husak. "In speaking with Alex's father, he said how much the soccer team and LMU meant to Alex."
Lam, a Marketing major, played 28 games and made two starts in his two seasons with the Lions. He joined the program as a walk-on and earned a scholarship heading into his junior season.
"This is a very sad day for LMU and our program," said Head Coach Paul Krumpe. "Alex was one of those individuals that made coming to work each day worth it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to the LMU family."
The Lam Family has asked that all sympathy cards and notes be collected by LMU and then forward to the family all at once. Please send correspondence to:
