LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Junior midfielder Trini Gomez was named the WCC Co-Player of the Week for scoring the game-winning goal in LMU's win over then-#2 Connecticut in front of almost 5,500 fans at Morrone Stadium on Saturday night. The native of Inglewood, CA was also named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week.
On Saturday, Gomez took a feed from senior Bobby Burling and buried the ball to the bottom right corner of the net to lead the Lions to the 1-0 victory. Gomez led LMU in scoring in 2005 with six goals and four assists.
It is the first career WCC and College Soccer News honor for Gomez. He shared the award with San Francisco goalkeeper Geremy Uhl who posted two shutouts in wins over Stanford and California. The Lions will play their first home regular season game on Saturday, hosting Marquette at Sullivan Field at 2:00pm.
