Los Angeles, CA -- Arturo Torres was selected as the West Coast Conference Player of the Month for men's soccer for the month of September. Torres was honored for his role in leading the Lions back from an early season 0-3 start to a six-game winning streak and a No.16 national ranking.
After nine games, Torres is tied for the league lead in scoring with six goals and three assists for a total of 15 points. During the Lions winning streak Torres netted three game-winners, including the lone goal in LMU's first ever win against then-No.11 UCLA (1-0) on Sept. 30.
The Wilmington, CA, native earned WCC Player of the Week and Soccer America Player of the Week for his performance against Harvard and UC Irvine during the LMU Fall Classic. He scored two goals and dished out one assist to earn MVP honors at the tournament.
This week the Lions take their No. 16 national ranking into the last week of non-conference play as they host Sacramento State on Friday at 3:00 p.m. On Sunday they play the CSUN Matadors in Northridge at 7:30 p.m.
