Los Angeles, Calif., - Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 - Loyola Marymount University senior men's soccer player Kevin Novak was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Month as announced today by the conference office.

Loyola Marymount has jumped out to a 5-3-1 mark, thanks in large part to the goal-scoring abilities of the midfielder Novak. The senior has tallied a conference-high seven goals, including game-winning goals against Michigan State, Oral Roberts, and then-#7 ranked Creighton. The Huntington Beach, CA native also paces the conference with 15 points and a 0.78 goals per game average, a mark that currently ranks 23rd in the nation.

Novak is the target man in an LMU attack that ranks second in the conference with a 1.78 goals per game average and second with a points per game average of 5.78. The Lions are currently tied for third in the conference with 16 team goals, nearly half of those goals coming by way of Novak. With 21 career goals and 49 total points, Novak currently ranks third in both categories on the LMU all-time lists.

The Lions travel to Riverside this afternoon, Friday, Oct. 3, to take on the UC Riverside Highlanders at 3 p.m. LMU will also face No.9 UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, Oct. 5 in Santa Barbara at 5 p.m.
