LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount men’s soccer team (3-9-2, 1-2-0 WCC) was defeated by the Portland Pilots (7-5-1, 2-0-1 WCC), 3-0, on Saturday night at Sullivan Field. The Lions are now 3-3-1 at home on the season.
Malcolm Dixon scored Portland’s first goal of the night as he received a pass from teammate Gio Magana-Rivera at 36:03 and sent a shot into the back left corner of the net past LMU keeper Collin Partee.
The Pilots’ next goal came at the 63:20 mark when Rey Ortiz sent a cross from outside the box to Erik Edwardson, who tapped in the goal to make the score 2-0.
Benji Michel took advantage of a LMU deflection and scored his 10th goal of the season and Portland’s final goal of the team’s shutout victory at 86:42.
LMU outshot Portland 18-9 and had five corner kicks to the Pilots’ two in the Lions loss. Portland goalie Paul Christensen registered five saves on the night, while Partee finished with two saves for LMU.
The Lions travel to Saint Mary’s for the team’s next match on Friday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.
