LOS ANGELES - The LMU men's soccer team embarks on its final roadtrip of the 2012 season, traveling to the Pacific Northwest to take on Portland on Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. and Gonzaga on Sunday, Nov. 4 at noon.

Pilots Rally Past Lions
The LMU men's soccer team struck first, but Portland responded with a pair of goals to rally past the Lions, 2-1, in West Coast Conference action Sunday at Sullivan Field.

Sears, McFarlin Score in WCC Victory
The LMU men's soccer team picked up three big West Coast Conference points Friday as a goal by Sean Sears in the 101st minute snapped a 1-1 tie and sent the Lions' bench racing onto the field in celebration of a 2-1 win over visiting Gonzaga.

LIONS' LAST LINE
The Lions snapped a four-game losing streak on Oct. 28 with a 1-1 draw against San Francisco... After the Dons took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute, Pedro Velazquez evened the score six minutes into the second half with his team-leading fourth goal of the season... Juan De Rada earned the assist on the goal... LMU outshot USD 23-10 in the match but the Dons' Brendan Roslund came up with eight big saves while his defensive line helped out with a trio of team saves...
INSIDE THE LIONS
The Lions enter the week with a 3-10-3 overall record and 1-5-2 mark in WCC play... They have six overtime outings under their belt this season, and have fared well in those matches, going 2-1-3... Freshman Pedro Velazquez leads the squad with four goals while sophomore John McFarlin leads the team in assists with three... In addition to Velazquez, seven additional Lions have found the back of the net, including a pair of goals from Craig Nitti... Paul Blanchette made his first collegiate appearance at the end of the Cal State Fullerton match on Sept. 7, and then earned his first start against Tulsa (Sept. 9)... The freshman has now appeared in the last 13 matches, making 62 saves and holding a 1.39 GAA... The Lions have been outscored 23-12 overall in their 16 matches thus far... The 2-1 win over Gonzaga on Oct. 5 marked the third time LMU has scored multiple goals in a match, having also done so at Stanford and Saint Mary's... LMU has also been held scoreless seven times... The 31-member side features 12 freshmen, 12 sophomores, four juniors and three seniors... Twenty-four different players have earned at least one start this season... Mitch Boland is the only player to start all 16 games... Head Coach Paul Krumpe is in his 15th year at the helm of the Lion program... The Lions were picked to finish fourth in the 2012 WCC Preseason Poll...
HEAD-TO-HEAD VS. THE PILOTS
The Lions are 10-21-2 all-time against Portland... LMU won four straight from 2009-11... The Pilots have now won the last two meetings, however, including a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Lions on Oct. 7 in Los Angeles...
THE PORTLAND PILOTS
Portland is 6-8-1 overall and 4-4-0 in WCC play, good for fourth place... The Pilots are 1-3 in their last four games - three of which have gone into overtime... Steven Evans leads the Pilots with 13 goals and two assist for 28 points... His 13 goals ranks second among all WCC players... Justin Baarts has played nearly every minute in goal for Portland, recorded two shutouts to go along with 60 saves and a 2.00 GAA...
HEAD-TO-HEAD VS. THE ZAGS
The Lions are an even 14-14-1 all-time against Gonzaga... LMU evened the record with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Zags back on Oct. 5... John McFarlin scored in the 22nd minute for the Lions and then Sean Sears knocked in the golden-goal game-winner 49 seconds into the second overtime period... That victory made it two straight for the Lions over the Zags, as well as five wins in the last six meetings...
THE GONZAGA BULLDOGS
Gonzaga enters the week at 4-10-0 overall and 0-7-0 in WCC play... The Zags host San Diego on Friday before facing LMU on Sunday... Gonzaga's last win was a 3-2 double-overtime victory over UW-Green Bay on Sept. 23... They have been outscored 15-4 in WCC games... Clark Phillips leads the team with four goals and two assists for 10 points... Three other Bulldogs have two goals apiece... Three players have seen action in goal this season, combining for a 1.87 GAA and 56 saves...
