Six Lions Earn All-WCC Honors

Nov. 15, 2011

LOS ANGELES - Six Lions were honored by the West Coast Conference Tuesday as the league released the 2011 All-WCC and All-Freshman men's soccer teams. Leading the Lion contingent was senior Artur Jozkowicz who was named to the first team.

Fellow seniors Phil Da Silva and Tyler Krumpe were named to the second team while senior Logan McDaniel and freshman John McFarlin earned honorable mention honors. McFarlin and Dylan Seedman were named to the All-Freshman squad.

This marks the second All-WCC honor for Jozkowicz who was named to the second team in 2010. The central midfielder was a prime catalyst in the LMU attack this season and he finished the year with a team-high 13 points on five goals and three assists. He assisted one game-winner and scored one of his own in back-to-back games against Santa Clara and San Francisco, which earned him WCC Player of the Week honors and recognition among Primetime Performers for the week.

Da Silva, also an All-WCC honorable mention selection in 2009, closed out his senior season with 11 points on three goals and five assists. He had a breakout weekend at Gonzaga and Portland, scoring three goals and adding an assist on the game-winner over the Pilots, which kick-started a five-game unbeaten streak for LMU.

Krumpe, a WCC All-Freshman team selection in 2008 and All-WCC honorable mention selection in 2009, was a stable force on the LMU back line this fall. Among his four assists this season were on the game-winning goals against Santa Clara on Oct. 14 and San Francisco on Oct. 30.

This marks McDaniel's second All-WCC honor after being named to the second team in 2009. The outside midfielder tied for the team high of five assists this fall, including on the game-winning goals against Oral Roberts on Sept. 1 and UC Riverside on Sept. 9.

McFarlin had a breakout rookie season that included one goal and three assists. He recorded his first collegiate point on Oct. 7 at Gonzaga, assisting LMU's first goal of the match. He headed home the overtime game-winner against Santa Clara on Oct. 14, then added a pair of assists in the Lions' 4-1 win over Gonzaga on Nov. 6.

Classmate Seedman also came on strong in the second half of the season, beginning with an assist and the game-winner in the Lions' Oct. 9 3-2 win over Portland. He would score twice more, finishing in a tie for second most goals with three.

LMU closed out the 2011 season with a 7-12-1 overall record and 5-6-1 mark in WCC play.
