SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Freshman Adrien Perez was named the West Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for November 18, 2013, the league office announced Monday.
This marks the second Player of the Week honor for a Lion this season and the first for Perez who was also recently named WCC Player of the Month for October.
Perez scored two goals and added one assist for a team-high five points as the Lions won their final two regular-season games and clinched their first outright West Coast Conference Championship. The rookie striker came off the bench on Wednesday against San Diego and gave the Lions a 1-0 lead on Senior Night with his ninth goal of the season. Five minutes later he struck again for his second multi-goal outing of the year, his 10th collegiate goal and a 2-0 LMU advantage. After the Toreros tied the score at two apiece, Perez contributed the assist on Pedro Velazquez's game-winner. Two nights later at Santa Clara, Perez led the Lions with seven shots, including five on frame, as LMU clinched a 1-0 victory and the 2013 WCC title.
Perez now has 10 goals and five assists for 25 points on the year as the Lions head to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2009.
