Baca Named Goal.com First Team All-American
Junior forward adds to postseason accolades

LOS ANGELES - The accolades continue to roll in for LMU junior Rafael Baca as he has been named to the Goal.com All-American First Team, the online publication announced Friday. Already a candidate for the Hermann Trophy and the Soccer News Net National Player of the Year awards, Baca is the first Lion to be honored by Goal.com.
Baca (Lawndale, Calif.) earned his second straight place on the All-West Coast Conference First Team after having led the Lions in 2009 with nine goals and 23 points, both new career-highs. A team co-captain, Baca helped lead LMU to a 10-9-2 overall record in 2009, reaching 10 victories for the fifth time in school history and returning to the NCAA postseason for the first time since 2004. helped LMU return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004. In doing so, he became the first LMU player to earn First Team All-WCC honors in back-to-back seasons since Matt Kovar in 2003 and 2004 and just the third Lion to be a First Team selection twice in his career. He was second in the league in both goals and points while gaining the WCC Player of the Week accolade for September 15-21 and the WCC Player of the Month award for September. He averaged more than a point a game in conference play, scoring four goals with four assists for 12 points in 11 games.
Baca is the only player from the West Coast Conference to have been honored by Goal.com. He is also the only WCC player listed on the ballot for the Hermann Trophy, given annually by the Missouri Athletic Club. Most recently, he is one of 38 candidates for the Soccer News Net College Player of the Year award, which can be voted on by fans here.
