Final Stats

Tempe, AZ - The Loyola Marymount University men's tennis team fell to 2-4 on the season as the Lions lost 6-1 to Arizona State, Saturday afternoon. The Sun Devils improve their record to 2-2 on the season.

The Sun Devils earned the doubles point sweeping the three matches. LMU's Johannes Asuja and Tigran Martirosyan gave ASU's Chris and Clinton Letcher a tough match, but fell 9-7.

Martirosyan continued his impressive singles play, downing ASU's Clinton Letcher 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 to improve his spring mark to 5-1. Martirosyan is now 16-6 on the year.

"Tigran is playing with a great deal of confidence at the moment," LMU head coach Nik DeVore said. "He was up 6-3 in the first set tiebreaker, but played a few loose points to let Letcher back in to the set. I was really proud of the way Tigran rebounded after losing the first set the way that he did."

In one of the final matches of the day ASU's Ryan Eveloff and LMU's Carlos Malet-Faura carried on a grueling match, but Malet-Faura finally fell 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(3).

Next up, the Lions will travel to UCLA to take on the top-ranked Bruins, Wednesday at 1:30.
